Don’t you just love it when things work?

In the frenzy to get a summer garden going before leaving for book tour, I completely forgot about my little seed packet of tomatillos. Luckily here in Austin we get a late summer window for planting tomatillo starts. I hope these little guys grow big and strong in the coming weeks.

I’ll be honest, I find garden planning pretty stressful. There are just so many things to consider, many moving parts that can affect a plant’s success. I look upon friends’ gardens sometimes with envy, wishing mine was as big and wild, as tangled with thrush and opulence. For the time being, I count alive as success.

What’s working for you in the garden right now?
