Partner with HGGH
After two years of seeking direct advertising relationships with small businesses that I personally support, I have decided to sign back on with the AOL Kitchen Daily ad network. As is the nature of an ad network, there will be certain brands that do not directly align with my brand or mission in the header and sidebar scrolling ads, but regular income from this network will help me continue to devote time to posting recipes, DIY projects, and helpful home information here. This revenue will also help me to continue to employ a marketing coordinator who continues to manage direct advertising relationships for the featured blog sponsors who appear on the site (outside of the ad network) and whose individual missions and brands I do personally support. If you have any questions about this change, please feel free to email me.

About this blog
The Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking blog is a resource for readers interested in practical, economical and DIY-focused home and kitchen projects. I post recipes regularly highlighting gluten-free baking, CSA box project ideas, and food preservation of all sorts. I offer book and product giveaways on the basis of personal support for products/brands/authors. Readers also visit the site for a bi-monthly Hip Trick, a helpful home tip that won’t involve a glue gun or your entire paycheck.
I started this blog in 2009 when I was living in a ground-floor apartment in Brooklyn. After moving cross country to support my partner while she attended school, I found myself under-employed yet just as intent on keeping a cozy home as when I had a salary to back up those efforts. It became clear that creativity and some improvisation were in order, thus the HGGH blog, then book were born. I’m still employed in the creative and freelance economy with my mainstays in freelance writing and teaching. See more about me here and here.
The blog and/or book has been featured in publications like USA Today, Vanity Fair, New York Times, and many other places. I write for publications like Edible Austin, Acres USA Mag, Canning Across America and the kitchn websites. I teach classes on green cleaning, home food preservation and other food-based instruction both privately and at culinary instruction schools and centers like Whole Foods, Central Market, The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts and at conferences like BlogHer.
I appreciate my in-kind sponsor, Squarespace for giving me a free amazing blog platform.
