Our boy

Alfie is missing, one week as of yesterday.

We are devastated and dealing, some days better than others.

I have so much to do right now (deadlines, etc.), but all I could manage yesterday afternoon was ironing.

I don’t even like ironing.

There’s something soothing about slowly smoothing out a wrinkly shirt that I only hooked into yesterday.

She obviously doesn’t need soothing, but I’m sure she misses her brother (somewhere deep down).

What kinds of things do you do to manage stressful or sad times around your house?

Oh no! I am so sorry. Losing pets is so sad. But sometimes they come back.

I generally try to manage stress with exercise. It sort of works.

Oh, dear. I'm so sad to hear he still hasn't returned. I know it must be horrible for y'all.
When I'm stressed out, I make lists of actions I can do to get the stressful things out of the way. When I'm sad, I lay around and do nothing and let myself be all wallow-y for a while.

I iron. I thought I was the only one, but there you are! As for missing kittehs, they often return having no sense of the pain they have caused! Sometimes I wonder if they hide out in the garage or under the house waiting until you go out and put up $50 worth of color "Reward Offered" posters! Because, as soon as you do, they always turn up! [or at least you hope they do] xxoo

Usually when I'm sad I work out in the yard. Planting things or trimming up a neglected area makes me feel better! ♥

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this! I hope he returns. Hang in there!

Oh dear. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I generally clean/organize/declutter when I'm stressed out - it helps me to "see" better - but I think that missing a dear family pet is in a category of its own. I would say, "worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere," but again, does not apply to a missing kitty. Alfie, come home, soon!!

I can totally identify with your sadness and stress! My Alphee has done this to us more than once, and each time gets a tiny bit easier since I know he's too scared to venture beyond 10 feet from the perimeter of the house. That doesn't keep me from keeping the lights on and doors open all night, and getting out of bed every 30 minutes to check for his return. I will send wishes for your Alfie's speedy return while my Alphee purrs me to sleep tonight. Have you tried putting the litter box outside?
