Ball® Brand Home Canning Equipment Giveaway

Disclosures: Jarden Home Brands sent me each of the giveaway items noted below at no cost to me and will ship the winner’s kit directly to them at their own expense. My opinions on the product are not influenced by this gift.

This year Jarden Home Brands launched the third appliance in its FreshTECH family. The new FreshTECH Electric Water Bath Canner + Multi-Cooker is a plug-in, countertop appliance that eliminates the need for stove top heating. This removes the concerns of ceramic-glass stove top owners and makes it more convenient to handle than traditional water bath canning pots. The appliance enables users to multi-task during the canning process, eliminating the need to monitor boiling water or move the pot to fill and drain.

So, I know you’re thinking oh, another fairly narrow-use appliance… I certainly had that thought initially, but now that I’ve pulled it out and really explored all of the possibilities, I see that this device is essentially a more versatile version of a crock pot that allows you to actually waterbath can in addition to all the slow cooking you might want to do. The pot’s size is also quite handy for the larger soups and stock batches that won’t fit in your standard crock pot.

Plus, there’s a spigot which eliminates the majority of the lifting and pouring you need to do to get water or stock out of the pot when finished. I also plan to use this as our mulled wine or mulled cider vessel for our annual holiday party. No more sticky goo all over the kitchen stove as people try to ladle out festive warm beverages.

Beyond the electric canner, Jarden Home Brands is offering up a Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving and a case of regular mouth pint jars!

Info from Ball Home Canning: The new 37th edition of the Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving is the most trusted resource in home canning for over 100 years and this new 2015 release is its largest update since the first edition in 1909. Expanding 56% from the previous edition, the 37th edition of the Ball Blue Book includes 75 new recipes, pictorial step by step guides for beginners and more!

What a great product! I'm going to #canitforward this year by making Bloody Mary pickles for Christmas gifts. This would be a big help in dealing with my efficiency-sized stove.

I've been busy canning peaches and preserves in my hot little kitchen this summer...boy would an electric water bath canner be a nice upgrade from my current system!

This new toy looks so fun!

I can't wait to can up the pears that are about ready. I am making lots of gifts for the holidays.

I've been drooling over this electric canner since I first saw it -- the idea of freeing up my stove top a bit is divine. As much jam and jelly as I make, right now my water bath canner is always out & on the stove, drives my family nuts, lol.

Thank you so much for this opportunity--I think this kit would make it SO MUCH easier for a newbie like me to get into canning!

Being a farmers market shopper, I've always loved and been curious about the idea of canning, but it made me nervous to actually do. I've now been exposed to, and researched it enough to feel comfortable to venture into it on my own.

this is the first time I've heard of an electric canner!
Since I have a ceramic top stove I had just
given up on the possibility of canning, not
anymore!!!

I've been looking at these electric water bath canners for the busy summer canning season. Would free up my burners for cooking meals and might even be able to take my water bath canning to the back porch to keep the kitchen from getting so hot!

My favorite canning is jelly - the kids' favorite is bluebarb - and apple butter! Can't wait!

Oh my goodness, this is exactly what I need! We moved this year and our new home has one of those glass top stoves that doesn't play nice with large canning pots. I'm usually busy with peaches right about this time and I feel so lost this year without a canning project! I'd love to win!

I plan to can it forward by sharing our canned gooddness with neighbors, family and friends & canning with my son, sharing what I've learned with him. I wish I had someone to teach me how to can in person, and I want to do that for him. {I learned from a DVD from the Library.}
